Aphrodisiacs
Most of the times we do not even realize how much grateful we can be to
the plants. They do not only give us food, but also many ingredients to
help to built our body, vitamins, medicines, and substances which have
influence on the condition of our, amongst those substances there are
some, which have a particular influence on our sexual behavior .
They are being called aphrodisiacs. During the ages aphrodisiacs were
treated differently, ant the spectrum of its use varied, and for example,
they were treated as an excitant, hallucinogenic, liquidating shyness,
arousing pleasure or inducing desire.
In some cultural circles, they have been used for achieving political
successes, in some others they were believed to be a cure for infiterlity.
All the nations were using aphrodisiacs and some of them still do it.
It is impossible to determine precisely, when in the history of humankind
they were used for the first time. What is known is that even 60 000 years
ago Neanderthal people used plants alter known as aphrodisiacs. A proof
for that, are their uncovered graves, where many various herbs were found,
later classified be scientists as aphrodisiacs. First written records
about aphrodisiacs can be found on Sumerian rock plates, and Ovidius,
Teofrast and Paulinius the Older write their exact recipes in ancient
books.
All the herbs and the way of using them to get a sexual arousal are mentioned
in old Egyptian papyrus. At the beginning of the history of mankind, the
usage of aphrodisiacs was dependent on cultural circles, access to herbs
and religion. In many of those cases, herbs were used only because their
shape reminded of certain parts of human body.
In ancient Greece, people eat powdered shells and drunken wine along with
that. This had a link with the myth of Aphrodite and the God of daze Dionysus.
On the other hand, in China people worshiped the root of gin seng. In
China, it was called the root of heaven, in India the root of ecstasy.
On a very valuable Old-Tibetan manuscript, where the whole
process how the man came to being, a couple of parents is being given
the gin seng root as an aphrodisiac. However, there is no other plant
that moved man's imagination more than Mandragora. In different periods,
it was shown as a plant that had a soul, which needed special way of gathering,
for which dogs were used.
In early Middle Ages, it was identified with Satan and his unholy powers.
From botanic point of view, Mandragora is closely related to Cicuta virosa
and Atropa beladonna, which are greatly poisonous.
Aphrodisiacs in middle ages were sometimes connected with
magic, unholy forces and witches. After the times of the dark Middle Ages
they came back to grace and they were given a closer look, trying to examine
their effects. For that, we can thank some bright monks who were growing
herbs in their monastery gardens and looking for their appliance.
But what happened on American continent at the same time? - This has a
key meaning for ATW. At the end of XVII century, missionary Juan Maria
de Salvatiera came to the New World. Staying with Indians, who he was
evangelizing, he also got to know they're habits. Looking through Salvatiera's
drawings, he found one about the Celebration of Fiterlity. During this
celebration, Gods gave the human the herb, which guarantied amorous ecstasy.
Indians eagerly showed the missionary this wild growing herb. Salvatiera
decided to give this herb a European name. It reminded him of St. Damian
and the named it after him. Since then this herb is known to the world
as St. Damian's herb, and its Latin name is - TURNERA DIFFUSA APHRODISIACA.
This missionary war so fascinated by this herb that he even wrote a little
poem about it:
Damiano
Indian and Saint
Gently smoothen my hip
So totally Indian and Saint.
Later, two herbs closely related to Damian were recognized and identified
in Brazil. Damian came to Europe right after that, and as the time passed
and science developed, it was and still is closely examined. Before Europe
get to know Damian as an aphrodisiac, to get sexual arousal, people used
lavement made from smoke from different herbs.
Is this a myth of a fact from scientific point of view?
Examining this problem scientist focused on skin and nose, as the most
sensitive parts of our body. It appeared that some chemical substances
contained in some herbs extractions, in touch with skin simulate the endomorphic
process. In other words: under the influence of these substances we start
to feel pleasure. This is how Damian, received in a very specific way
works. Our nose is more precise than our nose. In 1809, Ludwig Jacobson
discovered in animals body, the share nose organ. Since 1991, it was believed
that humans do not have such organ, and if he does he does only in embryo
faze, and after being born it fades away.
Exactly in year 1991 Moran proved, that human has this organ in his nose,
and what's more, that it has a great and precise function. Share nose
organ is bind directly with hypothalamus with special share nose nerve.
Many scientists think of hypothalamus as a brain of our brain, because
it controls mostly: sexual desire, excitement, anxiety, aggression, appetite.
Hypothalamus frees all kinds of elements, which have a major influence
on physiology of our body.
The share nose organ has nothing in common with smelling any regular scents
and it is placed in both septum of our nose, and it is from 0,2 to 2 mm
big. It has many receptors, which are places analyzing volatile and unvolatile
substances.
The discovery of share nose organ had
a colossal scientific meaning, because it proved the existence of chemical
sent - seventh sent. Further studies quickly leaded to discovering many
chemical substances, which have influence on our feeling and emotions.
Those substances are called FEROMONES. Pheromones are created in deeper
layers of our skin, and thanks to the keratynisation process they are
being released to the surface of our skin and start to float in the air.
Human pheromones have been classified as: KOPULINY, ANDROSTENES, WOMEROFERYNY.
Scientific studies confirmed that many chemical substances have influence
in human feelings; by the way, myths about aphrodisiacs were refuted.
Out over hundred examined herbs, there are only few, which have proven
the right effect. Based on those results in ATW company, there is a whole
set of cosmetics is prepared under a one name: MOODS. It starts with gels
with names corresponding with moods they can evoke: activity, concentration,
sedation, intimacy and masculinity.
